Reason for the Season

A big thank you to all our families who donated food for this year’s food drive to support St Joseph’s Food Pantry!  The kids did a great job helping to decorate their donation boxes and with your help we collected 156 items to donate for families in need!  The School Age room collected the most items this year, and so Kidzland will be giving each child in that classroom a new book to show our thanks.  In the month of December, we will be collecting items to be donated to Homeless Connections via their Project Giving Tree program.  The tree is decorated with ornaments that have items that the homeless shelter is in need of.  Families are welcome to pick ornaments with their children and purchase the items and drop them in the box.  We are collecting until December 16th.Food Drive

Both of these programs are part of of our annual community involvement programs.  Kidzland participates in these programs with the knowledge that when we incorporate our children in hands on experiences that connect them with different members and agencies in their communities, they will have a strong and long lasting foundation of charity and empathy that will carry on with them, long after they have left our classrooms.  Programs like these, which focus specifically on our friends and neighbors who are struggling to find food and shelter and those things that many of us take for granted, have a heightened relevance around the holidays.  When we all get caught up in the whirlwind of marketing and sales and jam-packed schedules full of family visits and trips to visit Santa, let’s take a few minutes to dwell on the profound impact we can make on those that are less fortunate than ourselves.  Just a few minutes of time and a few bucks can make the difference of going to bed hungry or staying warm during this winter season.  Our charity and empathy for these members of our community truly defines the reason for the season.  Thank you and have a happy Holiday Season!
